Charles L. Wolpert, 89, of Dublin, died Tuesday morning, July 18, 2017, at The Grand Senior Living Community in Dublin.
He originally graduated from Dublin High School in 1946, but he didn’t receive his diploma until 2002 because of his service in the U.S. Navy.
He was a World War II Navy veteran, as well as a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Dublin. He was an avid classic car enthusiast along with his beloved wife, Elfrieda, with their original 1968 Chevy. He was a long-time farmer in the Dublin and Plain City area. He enjoyed the camaraderie and was an active member of the Miami Valley Steam Threshers, where he showed his car and antique tractors.
He was born on Sept. 15, 1927, in Dublin to the late Chris G. and Louise (Leppert) Wolpert. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Elfrieda (Burger) Wolpert, in 2005; brother, Robert Wolpert; aunt, Elizabeth Leppert; and brother-in-law, Arthur Boerger.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Dorothy Jean Boerger.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Ferguson Funeral Home, 202 E. Main St., in Plain City, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at St. John Lutheran Church, 6135 Rings Rd., Dublin, where the Rev. Adam Steinbrenner will officiate funeral services at 11 a.m. Monday. Burial will take place at Dublin Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Union County Honor Guard.
