Monarch grapplers place second during Triad Invitational
Wrestling teams from Marysville and North Union joined host Triad on Saturday for the Triad Invitational.
The Monarchs finished second overall with 143.5 points. Dublin Coffman was the tournament champion with 158 points.

The Cardinals only filled seven of the weight classes, but had three individual champions and another who finished second.
Wyatt Smith (132) and Grant Bollack (144) each won four matches en route to titles in their weight classes.
Awsom Mitchell picked up three wins in winning the 175-pound bracket.
Blayk Thomas finished second in the 150-pound division.
Also placing for Triad were Michael Gregg (third, 120) and Cayden Everhart (sixth, 157).
Marysville had a pair of first-place finishers.
Gavin McCormick (113) and Ben Jones (126) each went 3-0 on their way to winning titles.
Reaching the championship bout but finishing second were Brennan Hoffer (120), Kaylor Niemi (132) and Zack Cooper (138).
Other placers for the Monarchs were Brayden Shuster (third, 138), Griffen Beery (fourth, 150), Carter Paine (fifth, 285) and Noah Schweinfurth (sixth, 113).
North Union’s top placer was Heath Ferguson with a third-place finish at 157.
Other placers for the Wildcats were Jason Rankin (fourth, 285), Collin Welch (fifth, 126), Ben Bonnell (fifth, 144), Corey Gilliam (fifth, 150), Broden O’Reilly (sixth, 165) and Kory Ransome (sixth, 190).
