Silver Scene Players is planning to bring a southern-inspired romantic comedy from playwright Jones Hope Wooten to Marysville this spring.

“Rex’s Exes” tells the story of a group of Texas cousins preparing for a surprise birthday party that somehow turns into a chaotic funeral.

“This show is pure fun,” said Michele Herbon, the play’s director. “Our cast has poured their hearts into bringing these wild characters to life, and we can’t wait for Marysville audiences to experience the hilarity.”

Herbon will be joined by assistant director Amber Gray and a cast full of local members:

Gaynelle Verdeen – Caraline Griffith

Peaches Verdeen – Leah Heflin

Jimmie Wyvette Verdeen – Elizabeth Creek

Theodore “Rex” Rexford Belrose – Erik Gray

Aubrey Verdeen – Herb Fischer

LaMerle Verdeen Minshew – Linda Fischer

Cee Cee Windham – Nancy Thomas

Gentle Harmony – Kimberly Blackstone

Marlissa Crutchfield – Mina Miller

Wild Bill Boudreaux – Tom Smith

Bitsy Hargis – Emily Campbell

Mama Doll Hargis – Kris Blust

Cousin Purvis – Rick Smith

Silver Scene Players is a local, community-focused theater group “dedicated to producing high-quality performances while supporting local charities and organizations,” according to a press release.

Proceeds from this production will benefit The Hope Center to support individuals and families in need.

Tickets will be available online at silversceneplayers.com and also at the door. Seating is limited, and audiences are encouraged to reserve early.

The show will run March 20-22 at Veterans Memorial Auditorium.
