Swingers Select brings home title

By From JT Staff Reports

On Saturday, the Marysville Swingers Select show choir competed at Loveland Showfest.

Swingers Select, the newest show choir at Marysville High School, is a treble group consisting of 50 sopranos and altos.

Out of the five treble groups at the competition, Select earned first place after its daytime performance and earned a spot in the competition’s evening finals to compete for the grand championship.

In finals, Swingers Select maintained its first place position and raked in several caption awards, including Best Show Band, Best Choreography, Best Vocals and Best Instrumental Feature, a trombone quartet consisting of high school students Jacob Bennett, Dannie Rajesh, Michael Roberts and Brady Watkins.

This marked Select’s first ever overall treble division grand championship.

Select’s outstanding performer of the day was Lauren Hensinger, a junior at Marysville Early College High School.

Results for the Swingers Unlimited show choir will appear in Tuesday’s newspaper.

Both Select and Swingers Unlimited choirs will travel to Ross Legacy Championship on Feb. 28, as well as the Solon Show Choir Invitational on March 7.

The group will end their season by traveling to Waltham, Massachusetts to compete in the Waltham Eastern Show Choir Festival at the end of March.

Marysville holds its own show choir competition on March 13 and 14, where 29 show choirs from across the nation will travel to MHS to compete.
