Fire destroys Shirk Road home

Area first responders battled a house fire at 20255 Shirk Road on Wednesday and saved some pets in the process. Above, local firefighters and a sheriff’s deputy care for a pet dog that was rescued from the fire. Officials said several other pets are unaccounted for and one cat was found dead as a result of the fire. (Journal-Tribune photos by Kyle Meddles)
